My mother left when I was seven years old.  I have no recollection of my mother being there for me when I was young.  This created some significant internal barriers in my adult life. Still, I began to heal by taking care of my own children.  Taking care of my children taught me how to care for myself.  The birth of my granddaughter inspired me to write this book as a reminder that growing through the process of caring for others is what ultimately helps us grow in our capacity to care for ourselves.''
